HOUSE NEWS: Breakfast volunteers needed, and a brand new issue of our newsletter
BREAKFAST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Our new breakfast project, Breakfast@theGreenHouse, has been going incredibly well. Originally we expected that we would have 10-20 guests joining us each morning, but instead we’ve been averaging close to 25 folks and had 39 last Thursday! We think that for people who are sleeping outside each night, especially when it is cold, to come in and have a light breakfast next to a roaring fire, maybe read the paper and have a hot cup of coffee, is just what is needed. What we need now is some extra volunteers to help handle the larger than expected groups we’ve been getting. What would be ideal is to have an extra volunteer on for each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning. If you’re looking for a regular volunteer opportunity, think about joining us on any of those days, any time between 7-9am. Let us know if you can help out and we’ll add you to the volunteer schedule.
NEW NEWSLETTER READY AND ON ITS WAY! We’ve just printed the latest edition of our hard-copy newsletter, Conspire. For those of you on our mailing list, you should receive your newsletter in the mail some time in the next week to ten days. But if you just can’t wait, you can see a PDF version online by clicking here. In it you’ll see our new schedule for the semester, the latest house letter, a reflection on our food policies, a reflection by Kelli on her Camino experience, and more.
SCRIPTURE PRESENTATION AT HOLY FAITH: Johnny will be giving another presentation in his ongoing Scripture series at Holy Faith Catholic Church (747 NW 43rd Ave) this coming Saturday, February 2. His presentation is entitled, “Examining a Gospel: Jesus’ Mission in Luke,” and will take place from 9:30am until noon. Everyone is welcome.
In addition to the help needed at breakfast, we’re also looking for volunteers for both the morning and afternoon shifts at the cafe each Wednesday. Join us anytime between 9:30am and 3:30pm in helping to prepare, serve and clean-up at what is our largest meal each week. Also, thanks to everyone who made it out to the microfarm for our workday on Saturday! Hope to see many of you this week…
