We’re back! No Bible Study this week, but otherwise back to regular schedule
ART-FOR-ALL SALE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER: Our Art-for-All crew has been crafting some lovely items for our spring open house/art sale, which will be held Saturday, April 12, from 1-4pm, so mark your calendars! More details in next week’s update; in the meantime, check out our updated Art-for-All page at gainesvillecw.org/art-for-all to view pictures of many of the items that will be available at the sale. Also, you can find the facebook event page here.
NO LENTEN BIBLE STUDY TONIGHT; LAST SESSION NEXT WEEK, APRIL 7th
Our Lenten Bible study group will not be meeting tonight, since our leader, Marijka Ulanowicz, is not available. We will resume next Monday, April 7th with our final session, to look at the third segment of the Passion of John. All are welcome, even if you have not attended previous sessions. Also, it looks like there will be enough interest to meet again after Easter to explore the Resurrection and Epilogue in John, so look for information about these sessions in future updates. They will most likely take place at the end of April/beginning of May.

MARCH THANK YOU’S: First, a huge thank you to Nick Farah for donating an industrial-size sink for our Green House kitchen to replace the old, leaky one. Along with this, our continued thanks to Porters Community Farm, Black Acres Microfarm, and the farmers at the 441 Farmers’ Market for all the produce they have donated to GCW this month, and to Henderson and Daughter Plants and Produce for selling us citrus at a deep discount. Thank you also to Strongtree Organic Coffee Roasters for donating coffee for our morning coffee shops, and to Citizen’s Co-op for the big discount they give us on bulk organic flour for our bread.
QUOTATION OF THE WEEK:
The center of Christian life is discipleship. Discipleship means following and imitating Jesus in thought, word and especially in action. Like Jesus 2,000 years ago, our discipleship means confronting and resisting unjust systems — be they economic, political, or other. It means confronting and resisting unjust authorities — be they political or religious leaders. And it means accepting the consequences that the powers and principalities of this world will bring upon anyone who does not allow “business as usual” (economic injustice, racial stereotyping, unbridled consumerism, violent entertainment, destruction of the environment by mega-corporations, etc.) to continue.
